Change your method

When you are attempting to get your whole house clean, you might be tempted to do one task for the entire home at a time. Trying to vacuum, mop, or dust your entire house in one sitting will overwhelm you and make cleaning take twice as long. Instead, stick to the room-by-room approach when cleaning your whole house. This will allow you to focus on only one room at a time, making your cleaning more efficient and less time-consuming.

Create a system

One of the big secrets to cutting your cleaning time in half is to create a system. A morning routine helps get you ready for the day, and an evening routine helps get you to sleep. A home cleaning system will help create a method to clean your house quickly. Clean your home in the same order every time you clean it and start and finish in the same spot in each room. The more you practice this system, the less time it will take you to clean.

Clean from top to bottom

When cleaning your space, start by cleaning from top to bottom. What do we mean by starting from top to bottom? Start with tasks located at the top of your room such as dusting your ceiling fan and light fixtures and work down to your floor. When you clean your ceiling area, dust and other particles are bound to fall to the ground. This ensures that dirt and dust aren’t falling on your clean surfaces.

Have the right tools ready to go

When you’re trying to clean your space, you should have all your tools, cleaning products, and anything else you need at an arm’s reach. This will keep you from going back and forth from each room collecting supplies. My preferred method is to create a caddy to take with me from each room. I have all the cleaning supplies I need right in the caddy, and it’s ready to go. For areas such as the bathroom that require specialty supplies, I create a separate caddy and put it under the sink. This way it’s ready to go when I walk in the room.

Don’t try to clean your whole home in one day

While leaving all your cleaning tasks until the weekend can be so tempting, this is a terrible method. We’ve all been guilty of leaving all of the hard jobs for the weekend, then wishing we’d be more proactive during the week. The secret is to spend just 20 minutes each day cleaning up your home. You’ll be surprised what you can accomplish in only 20 minutes. When you do this daily, your home will stay clean longer, and you’ll spend less time cleaning.

Cleaning doesn’t need to take up all of your free time, or even an entire day. If you follow these tips, you’ll have a cleaner home in just half of the time.
