A Cleaning Schedule for the Busy Mom

Spring Cleaning is nearly upon us. I love a clean home; it’s the cleaning part I’m not so fond of. It’s tough work being a mom. We have to get our entire family ready for the day, clean the home, take care of the kids, get dinner on the table, and so much more. There are a ton of cleaning schedules out there, but you probably don’t have time to clean your entire home from top to bottom. This cleaning schedule is perfect for those of us that are short on time, but still, want our busiest areas to look sparkling. Here is a cleaning schedule for the busy mom to make sure your most seen parts of the house never get dirty.

Kitchen

We spend most of our days in the kitchen. Whether it’s packing lunches for our family, making dinner, or doing the dishes, we spend a good portion of our day in here. The kitchen is also one of the messiest for a reason. If company is on the way over, or you want to avoid the mother-in-law judgment, here is your busy mom kitchen cleaning schedule:

Every Day

  • Clean dirty dishes
  • Wipe down kitchen table
  • Wipe down kitchen counters
  • Sweep the floor

Every Week

  • Mop the floors
  • Toss expired food and give your fridge a quick wipe down
  • Wipe down most used appliances
  • Clean microwave

Every Month

  • Descale coffee maker
  • Clean out freezer
  • Clean inside of oven

Living Room

When we’re not eating or sleeping, this is probably the room where the rest of our time is spent. Typically the living room is also one of the first places your guests will see upon entering the home. Here is your busy mom living room cleaning schedule:

Every Day

  • Wipe down surfaces
  • Pick up clutter and toys

Every Week

  • Vacuum
  • Dust

Every Month

  • Wipe down wood surfaces
  • Dust blinds

Dining Room

When guests come over, your dining room is put on display. Whether you eat in here regularly, or only when guests arrive, there are some regular maintenance things that need to be done in this room. Here is your busy mom dining room cleaning schedule:

Every Day

  • Wipe down table
  • Clean up any crumbs or spills

Every Week

  • Mop or vacuum floors
  • Dust

Every Month

  • Clean light fixtures

School Room

If you homeschool, then you know just how quickly this room can get messy. While company may not stop in this place, it still requires daily maintenance to stay clean and organized. Here is your busy mom school room cleaning schedule:

Every Day

  • Put back school supplies and books to proper containers
  • Wipe down desks
  • Clear off whiteboards/chalkboards and prepare for tomorrow

Every Week

  • File or throw out papers you no longer need
  • Vacuum
  • Dust

Guest Bathroom

While your bathroom may be a little on the dirty side if you only have time to clean one make it this one. Your guests will use this bathroom every time they come over, so you want it looking its best. Here is your busy mom guest bathroom cleaning schedule:

Every Day

  • Wipe down surfaces
  • Clean the sink

Every Week

  • Mop floors
  • Clean mirror

  • Clean the toilet and toilet bowl

Every Month
